The book behind the movement
A blueprint for parents who want to raise curious, confident and joyful learners - without burning out.

How this book came to life
Back in 2013, inside Julia’s learning centre, she could see it—the moment a child’s eyes lit up. She took Lights On online in 2017 to work with parents, trained as a master neuro-coach to understand the 'why,' and shaped the framework, tools and the Spectrum. In December 2024, the book brought it all together, so more families could switch their lights on.

'Lights On Learning taps into the core of what makes every child a passionate, engaged learner. Julia provides parents with the tools to ignite their child’s 'light', allowing them to thrive and excel not because they have to but because they want to. This book is a game changer for anyone looking to reimagine education as a joyful, self- led adventure, and it empowers families (my own included) to see learning as an opportunity to flourish'

'Julia Black offers a transformative approach not just to education but to raising families and exploring everyone’s potential for creativity. Grounded in research and tested by years of experience, it’s a framework for the revolution we need in life long learning. As this book explains, anyone can do it!’

'Such an inspiring book, full of examples of young people and their parents who have found the ways to switch on their flow, their love of life, their gratitude, compassion and joyful curiosity.
It’s clearly laid out, expresses the science of neuroplasticity clearly and opens doors by which all of us can step into what Julia calls ‘Radiance’ the fullest expression of our being'
